This FAQ item will outline the advantages of joining this website sommunity and guide you through the steps of joining. It is simple and straightforward and will be done in a snap. Here's how:

Joining this website community:

• Brings you together with the others sharing your interests and goals
• Allows you to explore and contribute to the debate on issues, large and small, including adding your own
• Allows you to add comments on issues listed on the site
• Allows you to network with other community members for friendship, debate and collaboration
• Provides you with tools to help: discussion groups, walls, event calendars, invitation tools etc
• Helps you and others work together to the resolution of these issues for a better world for us and our children
• Is free!

Here's how to join:

1. At the bottom of the Login panel in the left hand column of each page, click on the option to Create an account. (Use the Forgotten your username/password options on the Login panel if you have already registered but forgotten your username or password.)
2. In the Registration form that opens, fill in the five fields -
   Name - First name and Family Name
   Username - this is the only name that will appear on your contributions on this community
   E-mail - this will not appear on the community but will be used to confirm your registration and communicate with you
   Password - it is worthwhile making this secure - find out more about strong passwords and check the strength of yours
   Verify Password - as you would expect
3. Complete the captcha field - this checks you are not a pesty spambot
4. Read the Community Terms and Conditions and, if you wish to proceed, check the checkbox that you are have read and accepted them.
5. When you click on the Next button, you will be taken to a screen that allows you to add some basic profile information. There are only a small number of mandatory fields marked with an asterisk.
6. When you click on the Register button, you will be taken to a screen that allows you optionally to upload a photo/avatar to appear on the community together with your username.
7. When you click on the Upload button or Skip option you will receive a screen confirmation that you have been registered and that an activation email has been sent to you.
8. Look for an email from the site asking you to click on an email link to confirm your registration - this checks that we have a valid email address for you.
9. You are then right to go - to add comments, join groups, invite friends, add new issues and a lot more. Welcome to Big-Issues!
10. If you should get a message to say that the username or email address has already been used, then, if this is you,  you should use the Forgotten your username/password options on the Login panel, or if this is another user choose a new username or password.
