This item will guide you through the steps of adding an image to a content item you are authoring on this site. Given how powerful it is, it is relatively simple. Here's how:
- This FAQ item assumes you are in the middle of authoring (or editing) an article - see Submitting (and editing) an article.
- Place the cursor in the authoring text area where you would like to place or anchor the image and click on theĀ

icon in the bottom row of icons above the authoring text area. This will bring up a pop-up window labelled Image Manager Extended.
- If you want to insert an image with a known absolute URL (ie an image already on this or another website), then type or cut and paste the URL into the URL field in Image | Properties.
- Alternately if you want to insert an image in a file that you want to upload (less than 2Mb), then follow the following steps:
A. Start by choosing, in the bottom half of the pop-up window, the appropriate folder for the file upload. The folder(s) displayed are unique to your username, so files you upload will not be mixed with others.
B. If you wish to create a new subfolder use the first of these iconsĀ
that are found in the middle of the right hand side of pop-up window (above the Details label). Don't forget to click on the new folder in the folder list on the lower left part of the pop-up window to select it.
C. Browse on your computer for the files you wish to upload, by clicking on the second of these icons above. This will open up an Upload pop-up window. Click on the Add button in the top left corner of this new pop-up to select the file(s) you wish to upload - click on the Upload button when your list of files is complete. There are some properties that can be optionally adjusted also on this Upload window. After the files are uploaded click on the Cancel button to close this Upload pop-up window.
D. Select the image file you want to insert into the current authoring window and ensure that this selection populates the URL field at the top of the remaining pop-up window. - Set the other Image | Properties as appropriate (such as alignment, border, margin etc) and then click on the Insert button at the bottom of the Image Manager Extended pop-up window. ( If you are not happy with how the image looks, simply select the image and click on the
icon again and adjust it's properties to suit.)
