The table below will help you understand the difference between the various permission levels that are assigned to registered users in this community.
As you will see, while becoming an author is open to all, only an administrator can grant a registered user a higher permission level. Send me a message if you think you should have a higher permission level.

| Guest | Visit the site, no registration or login required | Read all public content, rate articles, add comments |
| Author | Create an account on the site | As above, also update user profile, use social networking functions, author articles and edit own articles, participate in and create discussion groups |
| Editor | Needs Adminstrator action | As above, also edit others content, read restricted content |
| Publisher | Needs Adminstrator action | As above, also publish new or edited content to the live site |
| Administrator | Needs Adminstrator action | As above, also access back-end of site, change users' permission levels, change menu structure and other community settings |
