My neighbour has a problem. A person who used to live across the road apparently used to break bottles on the road immediately in front of cars parked there. Not sure why, perhaps there was a reason. Maybe he thought there were too many cars parked in a narrow road. Maybe it was a statement against a consumer society. Maybe it was a result of some perceived wrong. Maybe from a sense of powerlessness.
One day my neighbour caught him in the act and chased him away, probably shouting some abuse.
This guy, who now lives further away, has stated coming back and spray painting my neighbours drive way and carport, and some of the cars parked on the street.
He was seen doing this at 3am when one of the security lights was triggered.
The problem is that the police won't do much about it because they don't think there is enough evidence to take it to court - and they probably know that from experience.
So we have seething anger and frustration - and no apparent vehicle for resolution. I am sure this is a very common situation across many urban environments. Many sides to the story - but few paths to a better future.
